Where We Are Now

Our club continues to thrive, aided by the ever-growing population of Shepley but also through the delivery of a friendly and safe environment for both our playing and social membership. Our overall membership now exceeds 200, and the number of teams entered into the leagues across senior and junior sections has increased from seven to thirteen in the last five years.

Our First XI has competed for many years in the Huddersfield Cricket League Premiership. Maintaining that level is something to be proud of, but it would be nice after a few barren years to start competing for the League and Cups again.  The Second XI plays in Conference 2.  We hope the experience our young team continue to build will see us moving up the leagues very soon.

In the junior section we go out to win the game of cricket, but we do not measure our success through league or cup wins. Instead, we want all the youngsters involved at Shepley C.C. to feel included and to get their chance to take part in the game of cricket – learning how to play the game with respect for your opponents, and shaking hands at the end of the game whatever the result. We do not over-celebrate victory, nor do we overreact to defeat.

We strive to be a community destination, catering not only for sporting events, but for wider community events, too. We are proud of the facilities we offer, be they for cricket, or for social events. Our clubhouse is modern and offers a flexible space for room hire; the kitchen facilities are clean and well-maintained. Our site is accessible for disabled guests.

Our biggest single event of the year is the Shepley Bonfire, which we have hosted for many years and which brings guests from miles around.

There’s always room to improve and refresh, but we feel the club is in a really strong place.  With fingers crossed for a sunny, warm Summer ahead, we look forward to seeing you around the ground.
