Shepley v Slaithwaite Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 13th June 2009 Marsh Lane, Shepley
Shepley bounced back from some disappointing recent results with a comprehensive win over Slaithwaite. Star of the show in an excellent all-round performance was SP Singh with 110 and 3-38, as well as a nonchalant run out, proving what a top player he is. Shepley batted first and, once again, Singh and Sam Haigh (28) shared a good opening stand. Tim Rees quickly followed Haigh back into the pavilion, allowing Tom Denton (49) to play his best knock since his return. Romain Grenville (33*) and Don Bandula Ranjith (20) played the right innings taking Shepley to a challenging 268-7. In reply, Grenville (3-39) had Wajid Hussain superbly taken by Tim Rees at slip, and followed with the wickets of Hainsworth and Booth. Khan and Younis staged a recovery, but the pressure applied by Singh and Ranjith (2-16) paid off as Slaithwaite fell 91 runs short. A good day at the office!
