Shepley v Skelmanthorpe Drakes Premiership Saturday 1st September 2007 Marsh Lane, Shepley
Defeat to championship-chasing Skelmanthorpe in an excellent game of cricket illuminated by an outstanding innings from Tom Denton. As four wickets fell quickly leaving his team at 12-4, Tom simply dominated the Skelmanthorpe attack, reaching his century out of 118-5. Good support down the order from Rob Denton, the Glover brothers and Sam Haigh lifted the total to an about-par 226 all out. Skelmanthorpe soon fell behind the asking rate and, at 152-6 began to look second favourites. But, as he has done so often, Richard Cocking enjoyed the tiring Shepley attack and led his side home with an over to spare.
