Scholes v Shepley Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Sunday 6 September 2009 Marsh Lane, Shepley
Congratulations to Scholes who were crowned Champions, despite losing to Shepley for the fourth time this season! Shepley batted first on a wicket that made stroke play difficult, and the match soon became a war of attrition. SP Singh grafted away for the full fifty overs, carrying his bat for 69*. At the other end only Romain Grenville (16), Steve Sullivan (16) and Danny Glover (12) reached double figures as the innings closed on 146-9. Having defended a low total at Honley the previous day, Shepley were certainly not giving this one up. A fired up Romain Grenville (5-53) bowled one of his most hostile spells of the summer, taking out the Scholes top order. Only Iqbal Khan (79*) looked secure as Scholes soon settled for the point they needed.
