Honley v Shepley Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 26 July 2008 Marsh Lane, Shepley
Honley gained revenge for their earlier defeat to Shepley by wrapping up a nine wicket win, largely thanks to the efforts of star men Harlon Haye (5-59) and Matthew Cox (105*). Due to illness and holiday commitments Shepley fielded what is thought to be their youngest ever starting eleven, featuring no less than six teenagers and the oldest two players being just twenty-four. Batting first Shepley got off to a cautious start in the face of good bowling from Richie Howarth and Harlon Haye, although Tom Denton planted Haye back over his head for a distant straight six. However, wickets fell steadily with only Denton's innings of 37 of any size, before Danny Glover (44) and Ramesh Subasinghe (45*) helped gain a respectable 171. It proved, however, to be an inadequate total as a quality innings from Cox led his side home, finishing the innings with the six that brought up a well-deserved century.
