Shepley v Honley Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 5 September 2009 Far End Lane, Honley
Shepley moved up to second place in the table as they defeated Honley in a low-scoring game at Far End Lane. Missing opener Sam Haigh, Shepley lost his promoted captain Danny Glover to the third ball of the innings, but Danny was certainly to have the last word. Wickets fell regularly on a sporting pitch, as experienced pace men Ritchie Howarth (4-44) and Harlon Haye (5-54) proved a handful. Shepley eventually limped to 123 all out in the 36th over, with only SP Singh (29) and Romain Grenville (26) passing twenty. The total seemed thirty or forty short, but Glover had other ideas. Bowling unchanged he destroyed the Honley line-up with 8-57, taking his season's total to 81 wickets. He was helped by some excellent catches and some tight bowling from Grenville, Singh and D Bandula Ranjith from the other end, as Honley folded to 96 all out.
