Shepley v Elland Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 8 August 2009 Marsh Lane, Shepley
Shepley had a bad day at the office as they were well beaten by Elland. The visitors won the toss and naturally batted on a great track. Missing the bowling of injured Romain Grenville, Danny Glover opened the attack with Sam Denton and soon bowled Sam Scott. But that brought in skipper Ryan Robinson (102) to join wicketkeeper Greg Finn (112*) and the start of a long afternoon. Normally a great fielding side, Shepley let their standards drop as the pair dominated; Glover ended with 4-70 as Elland slowed in the final few overs, posting 263-5. Shepley needed a good start, but got just the opposite and were soon 17-3. Lusty blows from Don Bandula Ranjith delayed the inevitable for a while, but wickets fell regularly as Shepley subsided to 110 all out, with a massive 26 overs unused.
