Broad Oak v Shepley Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership Saturday 12 September 2009 Broad Oak, Linthwaite
Shepley finished off their successful season in great style with a nine-wicket win at Broad Oak. Broad Oak batted first and soon lost Howson, but Runsworth, Wilson and Hurlbatt all got sixty-plus, ending on 213-7. The pick of the bowlers were Danny Glover (4-56) and SP Singh (3-55). In reply, Shepley lost stand-in opener Romain Grenville quickly, but Singh (103*) and Tim Rees (107*) put on a magnificent unbroken stand of 193 for the second wicket as Shepley got home with 12 overs to spare. Both Tim Rees (1054 at 48.53) and SP Singh (exactly 1000 at 43.43 - shows he can count!) reached 1000 runs for the season in all cricket (including Heavy Woollen Cup) during their innings on Saturday.
